Calumet Farm Whiskey, Kentucky Straight Bourbon, 10 Year Old

      Details

Owner Warren Wright. History 5x Leading sire. Non-chill filtered for added depth of character. Batch Size: 50 Barrels. Proof 100. Crafted with a mash bill of 74% corn, 18% rye, 8% malted barley. Bull Lea. At the 2-week long 1936 Saratoga Yearling Sale event, Warren Wright and then trainer Frank Kearns spied a powerful-looking, well-built Bull Lea, of Bull Dog-Rose Leaves pedigree. That day, 5 of the 6 top slots were purchased by well-established, rival farm, but Warren Wright was able to secure Bull Lea. The role Bull Lea played in Calumet Farm's rise to glory in the 1940's and 50's cannot be measured in his actual wins. His contributions came in the form of one of the most dominate progenies that thoroughbred racing has ever seen. During his stud career, Bull Lea sired 58 stakes winners and numerous champions. He was one of a few stallions in history to have sired three Kentucky Derby winners and still to this day, is easily considered as one of the greatest thoroughbred sires of all time. This premium bourbon is offered as a testament to his glory.
